(เวลา in thai) translating directly to english meaning ‘time’, ve/la aims to take a different perspective on coffee and its prominent relation to time.

Three circular marking systems rooted from gradients inspired by light

1. ‘Choose your time’ (Coffee Bean Blends)

ve/la is starting operations with two signature blends with names related to the overarching concept of time. Named aptly, Dawn Blend and Dusk Blend. With inspiration drawn directly from my personal sun branding case study, I decided to make circular gradients a central component of ve/la’s brand identity.

2. Extraction Process

Keeping the gradients expressed through two distinctive colors, this version of the circular gradient focuses on how the beans are extracted to a liquid, whether through cold brew, espresso, pour overs or siphon. Adjusted mainly on emotions elicit from each gradient shape, depth, length and ratio.

3. Flavour Pairing

Using a technique called ‘freeform gradient’, this variant perfectly illustrates the multitude of flavour pairings a signature drink may have. Developing each gradient comes primarily on instinct, giving each color a meaning which could go on to represent a multitude of traditional pairings as well as more unique presentations.
